nikotillan Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Hi, I have experienced a weird problem with my 2003 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI. When driving, the fan suddenly turns on and off, then works fine for a while and then does the same thing again. It is doing that when set to Automatic. Also I have noticed that I can't turn the fan off, even when it says off in the display the fan is still running full speed at the front. Any suggestions what might be the problem and how to fix it? seatkid Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Most likely the heater rheostat faulty, cheep to buy and easy to replace OP has climate control, and climate control doesnt have a rheostat as speeds are electronically controlled. Sounds most likely to be an intermittent short in the wiring loom, but could be a faulty climate control unit or the unit has got it self screwed up and needs resetting. I'm not sure how to reset the climate unit, you could trying disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (make sure you have the radio code before you do this as the radio will need to be recoded). VAGCOM / VCDS would tell you if there is a (detected) fault in the unit, I would expect that any logged faults would show as flashing the LCD display on start up. Quote
